I-Cue was our team submission for StormHacks 2022, where we finished in first place and also won Most Creative Use of GitHub. The project started from a simple idea: studying should measure understanding, not just memorization.
The app uses AI-assisted answer checking to look at the context of a student’s response instead of relying only on multiple choice or basic flash cards. The goal was to make recall practice feel closer to teaching back an idea than simply recognizing the right answer.
I worked on the front end with a focus on user experience and modularity so the project could keep growing after the hackathon. It was one of my earlier chances to build around AI in a product context, and it left a lasting impression on how much interface design, learning flow, and system structure matter even in a short build window.
Why It Stood Out
- It reframed studying as recall and explanation rather than rote memorization.
- It combined a clean student-facing interface with AI-assisted answer evaluation.
- It came together under hackathon pressure and still felt like a product we genuinely wanted to keep using.
